Museums in Malaga

Picasso Museum -

Governance The Museo Picasso Málaga is run by the Fundación Museo Picasso de Málaga and the Fundación Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso. Two foundations were created, each with its own Board of Trustees, and together they promote and support the Museum in accordance with the mission outlined by the founding donors. The Fundación Paul, Christine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso is the owner of the Collection, whereas the Fundación Museo Picasso de Málaga owns the group of buildings that house it. As was initially agreed by the donors, the two Foundations are responsible for the conservation, exhibition, study and diffusion of the Collection.

The Museum of Contemporary Art -

The CAC Málaga is a cultural initiative of The City Council of Malaga. Its aim is the promotion and dissemination of 20th- and 21st-century visual art.
The project is an innovative one within Spain as it combines models of private management with the aims and ideals of public administration.

The CAC Málaga was officially opened on 17 February 2003 by Their Royal Highnesses the Infanta Cristina and her husband, Iñaki Urdangarín, Dukes of Palma.

It is called the Cathedral of the Incarnation, built in 1528, in the gothic style above a former Muslim mosque.

Contains almost all the architectural styles from the 16th to the 18th century since a lot of different architects participated in it's construction.

Still, it maintains an impressive uniformity taking under consideration that it wasn't completely finished one of the towers was never completed, for this reason and in an affectionate way, people in Malaga call their Cathedral " The One-armed ".

In the interior of the Cathedral there are many works of art, beautiful representations of the Virgin as imagined by great artists and next door in the Cathedral's Museum this art display is expanded in a marvelous way.

In this museum you can find different examples of bull fighting articles as well as information about the history of bull fighting in Malaga and the rest of Spain.
